Lunenburg Country Ministry Gathering
As the landscape of our Eastern Synod continues to change, the Synod Staff have committed themselves to working with Ministry Areas to find creative and innovative ways to meet congregational needs while also allowing for new expressions of ministry to take root and grow.
The Atlantic Ministry Area is unique in our Synod and has much to celebrate. Especially, congregations in Lunenburg County enjoy a long and faithful history of adapting to meet the needs of the community and ensure the continued proclamation of God’s Good News. Over two centuries, various combinations of Rostered Leaders, Lay Leaders, congregations and shared ministries have been experienced. Each has served its purpose well, and have guided God’s people in the ways of love and grace.
In 2024, two retirements will occur in Lunenburg County. Simultaneously, the Eastern Synod is experiencing a shortage of Rostered Leaders to meet the demand of traditional ministry models. This time of vacancy affords us an opportunity to review the current model in place, and take concrete steps to ensure a sustainable and co-operative way forward.
To that end, Bishop Michael Pryse, Rev Adam Snook, and Rev Kimberlynn Mueller -McNabb, request your attendance at a meeting on Saturday, February 17, 2024 (9:30am-noon) at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg. During this meeting, a direct plan for Lutheran ministry in Lunenburg County will be presented. Ideally, active rostered leaders will be in attendance, as well as not more than two lay members per congregation.
Be assured, this conversation is not about closing churches! Rather, this conversation is about taking steps to re-organize for the health and wellbeing of all. It’s an invitation to come together as one Body of Christ with the ability to steward and grow the ministry and work of our forebearers.
