In this special recording, Bishop Michael is joined by Pastors Christie, Doug and Adam (as well as the Morrow-Wolfe & Snook kiddos) in a reading of “Song of the Stars: A Christmas Story” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and illustrated by Allison Jay.

Bishop Michael also brings Christmas Greetings as he reflects on, “the hopes and fears of all the years.” Bishop’s Christmas Greeting begins at 4:47.

COVID19 Reminders and Recommendations

Dear friends and colleagues,

Grace and peace to you as we enter these late days of Advent.

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise across our Synod, we are reaching out to you today to offer a few suggestions intended to ensure a safe and meaningful worship experience for those who choose to gather in-person throughout the coming days.

As always, we ask you to ensure that masking, hand hygiene, physical distancing, screening and ventilation practices are being closely monitored and adhered to. Science tells us that COVID-19 is airborne. As such, these timely practices, combined with strong support for vaccination, remain our first defence.

CLWR Appeal – BC Flood

Massive floods and landslides have devastated parts of British Columbia, destroying roads and leaving several mountain towns isolated. At least three people are missing, some 18,000 people are displaced and authorities expect death tolls to rise.

CLWR invites you to pray for the people of British Columbia, and to consider making a gift to support recovery efforts. As we move to quickly identify partners well-positioned to respond effectively, your gift will provide emergency support and hope for recovery.

Such support is made possible through the Church Extension and Capital Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada, as well as through generous gifts of bequest.

This month Rev. Adam Snook, Assistant to the Bishop welcomes some of our most recent Mission Grant recipients, who share with us how they’re using these financial gifts to build relationship, strengthen partnerships, address challenges, and further the mission of God’s church.

Eastern Synod Office Vaccination Policy

Effective November 1, 2021, all employees, contractors, volunteers and visitors to the Eastern Synod Office will be required to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. 

Paper, electronic or QR versions of government issued proof of vaccination will be accepted.

This policy is aligned with the employer’s general duty under the Occupational Health and Safety Act to take every reasonable precaution to protect its workers (broadly defined) and the responsibility to assess the workplace for risks, including that of COVID-19 transmission.

This policy is applied in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act and any other applicable legislation.

The Synod Office Team has now returned to in-office working patterns.
We welcome guests and visitors by appointment only.
We appreciate your ongoing willingness to contact the Synod Office prior to visiting.
