Strengthening Churches’ Response to the Suffering

500th Anniversary of Reformation to Focus on Present and Future
GENEVA, 18 September 2013 (LWI) – The 500th anniversary of the Reformation in 2017 will draw on the heritage of the past to strengthen churches in responding to the suffering of people and creation today, the general secretary of The Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Rev. Martin Junge, has vowed.

Churches to observe World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel

The World Council of Churches (WCC) invites its member churches, faith-based organizations and civil society to observe the World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel from 22 to 28 September, invoking prayers, action and advocacy for justice and peace in Palestine.

Initiated by the WCC’s Palestine Israel Ecumenical Forum (PIEF), the World Week for Peace in Palestine Israel is a call to end the Israeli illegal occupation of Palestinian land, urging justice and peace for all people.

New Visions Training with Peter Steinke

New Visions is a training program for raising awareness and action regarding mission by establishing a 'mission school' within the congregation. Using a curriculum built around Peter Steinke's 'A Door Set Open' and the DVD 'Make a Difference' attendees will be trained to establish and teach the school in their own settings (a training manual, DVD set, and hard copy of "A Door Set Open' will be provided at the training to each participant or team.)

When: Friday October 25, 1-8 PM and Saturday October 26, 9AM-2:30PM.

Jane Ann McLachlan’s new book, Connections: Parables for Today, is about the differences that separate people—differences of opinion, lifestyle, culture, situation and appearance—and how we can bridge those differences with understanding, compassion and faith. It is about seeing the connections, rather than the barriers, between people.
