Accounting Assistant
$24.50 – $26.50 an hour paid on salary basis – Part-time, Permanent
Part time/Permanent, 30 hours/week (option of either 4 or 5 workday week), Compensation commensurate with skills and experience, robust Benefits & Pension Plans, supportive office environment with focus on work/life balance
We require an Accounting Assistant for our office located in Kitchener, Ontario. This organized, detail oriented and positive professional will be a member of a small team and will perform accounting functions and some administrative support.
Primary Responsibilities
· General Ledger – create & post entries and reconcile General Ledger accounts
· Accounts Payable – code & enter invoices and produce weekly cheque run
· Accounts Receivable – post & balance entries and produce reporting
· Make & deliver weekly bank deposits and perform monthly bank reconciliations
· Produce monthly Financial Statements in a timely manner
· Prepare various government forms, ie. HST, EHT, and other required correspondence
· Answer routine inquiries and correspondence within the office and with external church board members of various congregations and other organizations
· Prepare reporting and assist auditors with annual year-end audit
Qualifications
· Diploma in Accounting with minimum 5 years of experience with full cycle accounting background
· High level of attention to detail with focus on accuracy
· Strong organization, prioritization and time management skills to meet deadlines
· Strong communication skills (both written and interpersonal)
· Strong problem solving skills
· Skillful and experienced with accounting and database software programs (MS 365 platforms). Knowledge of Adagio software an asset
· Positive and collaborative team player
· Previous experience with a charity or not for profit an asset
· Use of own vehicle to do external bank deposits
· Provide criminal background check
