"Reverend Awad was born in Jerusalem in 1946.  Two years later, during the 1948 Arab-Israel War, his father was killed and his family became refugees.  The family fled to the eastern side of Jerusalem where Alex and his brothers attended St.George's, School.  After graduation, Alex sought theological education both in Europe and in the United States.  He completed undergraduate work at Lee University.  He received graduate degrees from North Georgia College and Asbury Theological Seminary.  He and his wife, Brenda, currently serve in Israel and in Plaestine under the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church.  Since 1994, Alex has been serving as the Dean of Students at Bethlehem Bible College in Bethlehem and pastor of the international East Jerusalem Baptist Church in Jerusalem.  The Awads have three children: Christy, Basem and Randy."
