Welcome to the Worship Ministries site of the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada (ELCIC). The focus of our work is to inspire and equip congregations for the ministry of Word and Sacrament. We seek to offer worship that, empowered by the Spirit, nurtures spirited discipleship, welcomes diversity, and embodies compassionate justice. Training worship leaders and communicating effectively regarding worship resources and learning opportunities are primary tools of this ministry.
The Director of Worship Ministries Debbie Lou Ludolph coordinates synodically-sponsored worship services and is appointed by the bishop to a four year term as a worship resource person and consultant for the synod.
As part of the ELCIC, Worship Ministries relates to the Program Committee for Worship “Lift Up Your Hearts”, while synodically, the director works collaboratively with the other areas of ministry and the deans, and reports directly to the bishop.
Although our work is about ‘how’ we do worship, keeping a “strong centre and an open door” in our practice, and discerning the particularities of our context, we remember in all of this that it is God who enlivens our worship, working among us and in us.
The Holy Spirit calls us together as the people of God.
God speaks to us in scripture reading, preaching, and song.
God feeds us with the presence of Jesus Christ.
God blesses us and sends us in mission to the world.
