Back to Church Sunday Kit – Augsburg Fortress
Augsburg Fortress has extended the deadline to order kits for Back to Church Sunday to Thursday June 30th.
This year 89 Lutheran congregations have preordered kits compared to 14 in 2010. They have received extremely good feedback for this National invitation day. Unfortunately the kits must be printed well in advance, and while they will requisition extra copies, they cannot guarantee late Churches will receive a kit.

TAKING IT HOME… TAKING IT TO THE STREETS!
IN MISSION FOR OTHERS ~ AN EASTERN SYNOD RENEWAL EVENT
TAKING IT HOME… TAKING IT TO THE STREETS!
PURPOSE
In 2006, the Eastern Synod, gathered in assembly, adopted a Renewed Vision for Mission. As part of this vision, every congregation was encouraged to have a congregational mission plan. A team of leaders from across our synod — the Taking it Home Team — has been assembled to facilitate a process to achieve this goal.
Skit #3 – Ketchup – Challenging Questions
Ketchup Skit #3—ES Assembly Saturday 3:30am July 12, 2008
Written By: Rev. Joel Crouse & Rev. Kimberlynn McNabb
*Feel free to use these skits in your parish and make any changes if necessary.
This skit begins with the KB’s from the last skit congratulating each other on their ability to celebrate the diversity within the group. They have a sense that they have arrived. That their mission is complete and they fulfilled what God has called them to do. Much like the disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration the ketchup bottles feel like their job is to preserve what they have learned to be true. The ketchup bottles create this feeling of assurance and precision of thought with off the cuff, back and forth banter, working together as a group in complete solidarity on the floor of Assembly at the center microphone.
Skit #2 – Ketchup – Diversity and Generosity
Ketchup Skit #2—ES Assembly Friday 9:30am July 11, 2008
Written By: Rev. Joel Crouse & Rev. Kimberlynn McNabb
*Feel free to use these skits in your parish and make any changes if necessary.
This skit is based on the story of Cornelius in the Book of Acts. Begin with people dressed in ketchup costumes standing wherever they are seated during assembly. You should be prepared to say, “Because I am in mission for others I am called to be generous” in your native language …their roll is to stand as KB1 explores; the bottles are to represent the present visible diversity in our church.
Skit #1 – Ketchup – Transformation
Ketchup Bottles—A Transformation – Mark 10:35-45
Written By: Rev. Joel Crouse & Rev. Kimberlynn McNabb
*Feel free to use these skits in your parish and make any changes if necessary.
This skit was used at 2008 Assembly on Thursday @ 9:20am for the introduction of the special order—A People Called—to be passionate about our relationship with God, in Christ.
